Three Phase Electrical Wiring Circuits and Wiring Color Codes
Did you know that there were wiring color codes in Europe? I sure didn't. Most of Europe abides by IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) wiring color codes for AC branch circuits. The US National Electrical Code solely mandates white (or grey) for the neutral power conductor and vacant copper, green, or with yellow stripe for the non neutral power. Canadian wiring is governed by the CEC (Canadian Electric Code - for your reference). The protective ground is green or green with yellow stripe. 3 section wiring and electrical circuit is also seen. This is so an electrician knows that the electrical wire running to a nonworking plug is blue, the electrician will instantly eliminate two/3 of the remaining wires. Color coding helps in organizing.

3 Phase Electrical Wiring in a European Home
At the power station, an electrical generator converts mechanical power into a set of 3 alternating electrical currents, one from each coil. In a lot of Europe, stoves are designed for a 3-section feed. Sometimes the individual heating units are connected between section and neutral to permit the flow of electricity to appliances. Yellow is no longer permitted in the 2007 revision of wiring code ASNZS 3000. European color codes are used for each IEC or flex cables such as extension cables. You'll notice help on the National Electical Code, home electrical issues, wiring electrical outlets, installing lighting, electrical grounding, and general electrical supply stores facilitate do-it-yourself projects.
